Synopsis
Security controls are supposed to make systems harder to compromise, not harder to use. When policies, restrictions, and endless approval processes pile up, people start finding ways around them, and as hackers know, there's almost always a workaround.
This month, William Dunn will dig into The Friction Budget, the idea that every security control consumes a limited amount of user patience, trust, and organizational goodwill. Drawing from his recent article on themildtake.com, William will explore how well-intentioned defenses can create unintended vulnerabilities, why security theater often backfires, and how excessive security friction can ultimately weaken the very systems it's supposed to protect.
Join DC865 for a discussion that challenges conventional security thinking and explores where security actually helps and where it just gets in the way.
